“The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; But of every one that is hasty only to want.”
Proverbs 21:5
In today’s world, the hunger for quick wealth has driven many into deceitful, risky, and ungodly ventures. From internet scams to fraudulent businesses, the desire to “blow” (get rich and known) overnight blinds many to the wisdom of steady diligence. But God’s Word is clear: true prosperity is a product of consistent, thoughtful labour, not a hasty one.
The diligent person thinks, plans, and works. They build over time and trust the process. Their increase may seem slow, but it is sure. On the other hand, the one who rushes schemes without caution or integrity is headed for ruin. The Bible tells us that such person will always be in want. “Want” here speaks of lack, frustration, and disappointment.
God honours diligence. He doesn’t bless shortcuts that bypass His principles of hard work, patience, and stewardship. It’s not that God doesn’t want His children to prosper, He does. But He’s more concerned about who we’re becoming in the process than just what we’re gaining. So, before chasing that “fast money,” ask yourself: Is this wise? Is this honest? Does it glorify God? If not, walk away. Trust that His way, though sometimes slow, is secure.
Charge: Don’t rush the process. Choose diligence over desperation, and trust God’s path to true prosperity.
