“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.”
Matthew 7:24
The Scripture says, “If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?” As believers, our understanding of God and His word shows the type of foundation we have established. If we have a wrong understanding about God, then it must be corrected before building on it.
There are several types of foundations; one of such foundations is the sandy foundation—where the “once saved, forever saved” belongs to, and those who use similar excuses as a license to continue in sin. Such a foundation is faulty; hence, it cannot withstand the storms of life—any buildings on it are easily destroyed.
A solid foundation is compared to a rock, which depicts Jesus Christ—the Way, Truth and Life. Builders with a solid foundation believe in God’s word and continue to work out their salvation with fear. To build this foundation requires wisdom and obedience to God’s words, instructions and commands. Don’t be like those with a sandy foundation who easily forget who they are in Christ when trials come. May the Lord help us to be doers of His word. Amen.
Confession: May God help me to build wisely on Christ our solid Rock of Ages.
