“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”

Titus 1:16

There is a common yet strange saying, “Once saved, forever saved.” This notion sparked a debate some time ago, which was countered with scriptures, but it has resurfaced on social media, endorsed by a well-known “Christian celebrity.” Gainsayers may provide unwise illustrations, claiming that after experiencing salvation, one can continue living in sin and still make heaven.

Beloved, you cannot claim to be a “child of God” while denying Him in your actions. Scripture clearly states that we are in the world, but not of the world. This means that our words, actions, appearance, dealings, and relationships must all bring glory to God.

We also learn from the scripture that we cannot continue in sin and expect grace to abound (Romans 6:1). God forbids it! Yes, God is merciful, loving, and forgiving, but He will not accept an intentional lifestyle of sin. Beloved, you can’t claim to know or love God by merely professing it with words; there must be evidence of your love for God in your works. May the Lord grant you understanding. Amen.

Confession: Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine.

Further Study: Romans 6:1-18.

Happy new week, Beloved. Go and make God proud in all your dealings.
