“And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”

Revelation 2:23

It is expected of every “child of God” to emulate the good works of Jesus to all persons. Beloved, have you been good to all or some? Our honest response will help us reflect on how we relate with people everyday of our lives. We cannot justify our works by being good to believers and otherwise to others because they are unbelievers.

The scriptures tell us to love our enemies and do good to them that hate us. While on earth, Jesus lived an exemplary life, which we ought to emulate. This was how the Apostles got addressed as “Christians” in Antioch—because their lifestyles showed forth the good works of Christ. We must also note that good works aren’t just action-based but also heart-based. God is looking at your heart as you do that good thing. He knows if you’re doing it for show or with Godly intentions.

Whenever people see our good works as believers, they will always give glory to God. When people glorify God through our works here on earth, we expect to receive a worthy reward from our Lord and Saviour. May the Lord teach us how to show love and do good at all times, and may we not be found wanting. Amen.

Charge: Learn to ask the Lord for eyes to see people as He sees them, and a heart that loves them in His way.
