DEAR GOD

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

James 4:8

When was the last time you spoke to God your Father as a friend? When was the last time you wrote a letter to Him, or just sat down with Him and had a proper discussion? When was the last time you reached out to the Holy Spirit to say hello, and to know what was on His heart? When last did you pay attention to your Father even when you weren’t going to ask for something?

We must be very careful not to develop a relationship with God that is only need-based. Our hearts were made to be in need of constant fellowship with God, and we deprive ourselves of a lot when we don’t take time to sit with Him in adoration, in curiosity, and just to behold Him.

Dear Christian, look on your Father with a loving gaze more often. Take a pen and write notes to Him. Take time in worship to call His names. Tell Him you just want to stay with Him and hear His voice. Come to Him, not because of anything but Him. Just Come and tell Him sweet words.

Prayer

1. Dear God, lead me closer to your heart.

2. Father, help me to hunger more for your presence and never be satisfied with my level of communion with you.

3. Help me, Lord; your help is all I pray for.
