“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16
There are undoubtedly various kinds of Bible readers today: those who read the Bible to enrich their intellectual capacity. But, unfortunately, to this category of people, the Word of God will profit them nothing.
Some read the Bible to increase their knowledge about a particular church doctrine. But, unfortunately, this category of people will also profit little from the Word of God. Some read just to teach others and afterwards, forget about it. How, then, can one profit immensely from the scripture to avoid profiting little from it?
We profit from scripture when we read with the right motives, which aligns with what is stated in the scripture above. The scripture is profitable for reproof and correction, which means when we read the scriptures, we should have the mindset of being corrected. That is how we can get the most out of the scriptures. We should read as if we are hungry for it.
We should also read the scripture to get instructions in righteousness. The more you read the scripture, the more you understand the path of God. If you read the scripture with this motive, you will profit significantly from it.
