“If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”
2 John 1:10-11.
In the year 2022, a guy who was my mate in Senior High School in Ghana, proposed to marry me. I accepted without praying about it because I used my physical sense to judged him. The relationship with him seemed sound until one day he called me to discuss something with me. He said, “I love you so much and want to marry you. But the condition is, you must be pregnant before marriage. The day you test positive is the same day we start the marriage arrangements”.
Paul admonishes us in today’s scripture not to accept any doctrine that is not in alignment with the will of God. The doctrine of God is His Word (the Bible), and there is no other doctrine apart from what is found in the Bible. The condition my friend brought cannot be received because it is not the doctrine of God—it is an evil deed.
It is easy to discern an evil doctrine—no matter how it is put—when you feed yourself with the Word of God and pray daily. The Holy Spirit is our help in every situation. May the Lord help us to know the truth and stand for it.
Confession: I shall not compromise my Christian values, no matter how enticing evil looks.
Further Study: Romans 16:17-19, 1 Corinthians 5:9-13.
Happy weekend, friend.
