“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.”
1 Corinthians 7:17
There’s so much tendency in this present age for comparison or competition among believers. In the scriptures, Apostle Paul warned against it. Beloved, I hope you are not among those who envy, compare or compete in service unto God? Let’s explain this practically. There are five-fold ministry highlighted in the scriptures—Ephesians 4: 11.
During a church service, after the pastor preached and souls were won for Christ, God won’t only reward the pastor. He will reward every worker who faithfully discharged their duties, contributing to the success of the soul-winning. No one solely takes credit for God’s work. God is the only one who can take the glory. We are just privileged partakers of the blessings and shouldn’t even think of envying or competing with anyone in service. That will only make our service vain.
Every worker including the usher, chorister, evangelist, teacher, elder, deacon, protocol and even those who clean the toilet and vineyard all contribute to the success of God’s work. Don’t feel less for not holding the highest position in church. Even if others do not recognise your work, God does. Stop being envious or competitive! May the Lord bless us with understanding. Amen.
Charge: Brethren, we are co-labourers in God’s vineyard. Walk worthy!
