“Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.”
Titus 1:15
Have you ever encountered a situation where someone says an ordinary word, and then some people react in a certain way that suggests that the word is bad, while you’re just nodding along because you only understand the literal meaning of that word? What happened in that situation is that something neutral revealed the hearts of the different people present.
The mind does not see things as they are, it sees things based on what it has been fed. So, while one is able to see God’s ability to create beautiful marriages, for example, the other thinks it is impossible, and everyone who has a good marriage is lying and hiding certain things.
How you see things is dependent on the lens through which you’re looking from. And this is why there is such a need for our hearts to be pure. If you’re not seeing things from the lens of God’s Word, God’s Character, and God’s Heart (love), you’re looking through defiled lens. Let your prayer today be, “Lord, please search my heart, and cleanse all defilement that resides there.”
Charge: It is only to the pure that all things are pure. Are you pure?
