“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world”
Philippians 2:14-15
Our world today normalises perverse behaviour. The rate of corruption is very high, immorality is publicly celebrated without discretion anymore, people with integrity struggle to withstand societal pressures, and upright men daily resisting the wave of vicious ungodly trends. Yet, we are called to stand out as children of God: shining as lights in the world.
Do you remember Lot, Abraham’s nephew? The Bible tells how he was found righteous in the land Sodom, full of lawless deeds. Even though we are in the world, we are not of it. Our lives must reflect our true identity as ambassadors of heaven.
We must maintain fellowship with God through the Word and in prayers, and then be diligent enough to do what the Word says. It doesn’t matter how dark the world is, God has given us His Holy Spirit to help us shine as lights.
