FORBEAR OTHERS IN LOVE

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Ephesians 4:2-3

We are called into a lifestyle of unconditional love as believers. Apostle Paul charged the Ephesians, and by extension, the present-day believers, to forbear one another in love.

To forbear means to restrain, slow to retaliate or react in certain circumstances. As long as we function in this unregenerate body, offences abound. So be ready to tolerate, forgive, and be patient with one another. Love is the key to our victory as believers.

With love, every loophole through which strife, jealousy, and envy can creep into our lives, is sealed. Therefore, let us see each other through the eyes of Love. God, who is Love, applied this same principle when He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us (John 3:16).

Apostle Peter tells us that love covers a multitude of sins. If God did not count our wrongs and shortcomings against us, we should also make room to accommodate each others’ faults, knowing that we all are still growing into maturity in Christ.
