“Our fathers have sinned, and are not; And we have borne their iniquities.”
Lamentations 5:7
If you are to receive the reward for your works in years to come, will you accept or reject it? Do you remember this common saying, “You’ll reap what you sow”?
Just as your life counts, it also applies to your works, decisions and actions. Beloved, you need to consider the generation to come before you make decisions or take any drastic action. You are not expected to live a life at the expense of generations yet to come, that would be a selfish act of living.
You must ask yourself before you take any life-changing step, will the next generation bless or curse me? Will they rejoice or lament? As children of God, we should emulate Jesus Christ who lived an exemplary life for every believer.
Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, brought upon his generation the curse of leprosy due to greediness and lack of contentment. You must check your life and see if there’s any seed of sin or iniquity that can affect you and the generation to come. Identify those little foxes that can spoil the vine and get rid of them.
May the Lord help us to live a life worthy of emulation for the next generation in Jesus’ name. Amen.
