THE PRIVILEGE OF MERCY

“Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, And grant us thy salvation.”

Psalm 85:5, 7

We need to first understand who God is to help us see how much of a privilege it is to go to His throne of grace to obtain mercy, and find grace in time of need.

God is the Master of the Universe, the Omnipotent One; the One who knows every bit of our heart. He knows our coming and going. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth, and the One who has all the power to do and undo. There’s nothing hidden from Him.

However, this is just a teaser to who our God is. Now, knowing that this God who knows us thoroughly – the one who can see our intents, and how much we enjoyed it when we did that wicked thing before Him to satisfy our flesh – gives us the permission to come before Him and plead for mercy is a great privilege.

Dear brethren, I greatly  encourage us to make full proof of this privilege. Do not hide away from the Lord in the time of His anger, neither hide away from Him in the time of your wrongdoing. Ask for mercy! Our God is merciful, and there has never been one who came to Him seeking mercy that He did not show His mercy to.

Charge: Mercy is a privilege. Do not ignore it.

Have a blessed day.
