DO NOT TURN AGAIN UNTO FOLLY

“I will hear what God the LORD will speak: For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly.”

Psalm 85:8

The Old Testament tells a story of the Israelites, and how they had committed adultery by going to have other gods besides the Lord. In a bid to turn their faces back to Him, God had sent prophets to them telling of His anger and His everlasting love.

There was even one of such prophets – Jonah – who felt that the people did not deserve a chance. That tells us of how worse the sins of the people were. But that did not stop God from presenting them with His forgiveness and telling them to come back to Him.

This applies to us, too. This time, God is calling you to leave the life of sin behind by the power of His resurrected Son. He has paid the price for your sin and is willing to forgive you completely. The only thing He asks is this – do not turn back to sin. Do not turn back to your foolishness. In the words of Jesus to the adulterous woman, He’s saying to you, “Go and sin no more.”

What will do?

Charge: Let us not minimise the power of grace by going back to the godly things we have left behind. Maximise the power that is able to keep you from falling.
