“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
James 4:4
We know that our God is not pleased with sin or any form of unrighteousness because His nature detests it. God’s nature of holiness should be rated high in the lives of every believer.
Who is God’s enemy? A friend of the world who finds pleasure in every work of evil and acts of ungodliness. Every believer who loves the Lord and walks in righteousness is automatically an enemy of the world. The worldly system encompasses the lust of the eyes, flesh, and pride of life. God’s children should always double-check their lifestyle to ensure that they are right on track with God’s standard of holiness.
Biblical references like Joseph and Samson show us that God is pleased with a life of godliness but hates all forms of ungodliness. Joseph had the fear of God and couldn’t sin against Him, while Samson lived carelessly without having the fear of God.
As children of God, we should not be caught in the web of unholy living but should consistently partner with God in living a holy life. May God help us to consistently live in holiness with the help of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen
