THE SECRETS TO WEALTH

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

There are many questions to ask regarding the subject of wealth. And, of course, everybody wants to be rich and enjoy life to the fullest. However, the rate and manner in which most people seek wealth in this generation are alarming. We know that wealth is essential to living a good life, but it is not proper to seek it by force. Unfortunately, many people have gone ahead to seek wealth from the wrong sources. They don’t mind doing dangerous things, knowing that nemesis will catch up with them later.

This is why the Holy Spirit will help us understand the secrets to wealth in today’s message. There are two essential secrets to wealth.

The first and ultimate of these secrets is seeking first the kingdom of God. According to our opening scripture, we read there that we should seek the kingdom of God first, and “all these things” shall be added unto you. However, what many people do today is to seek first “all these things” before they seek the kingdom of God. Some get so engrossed with seeking other things that they forget to seek God’s kingdom. They do this until they lose their lives. What, then, is the essence of all the accumulated riches if one does not make it to the kingdom of God? (Matt. 16:26)

Do you wonder what those other things are? Matthew 6:25-32 explains more on this. Jesus told His disciples not to worry about what they would eat, wear, etc. Even King Solomon, as wealthy as he was, wasn’t as arrayed as the flowers we see. What a mighty God! In essence, if God cares about the flowers, how much more you? He requires us to ‘first’ seek the ‘Kingdom of God’.

Another secret to wealth is being diligent in one’s work. “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. A diligent (skilful, meticulous, excellent, industrious, productive, hard-working, etc.) man puts constant and energetic effort into accomplishing his goals. He is persistent and patient to see his seed grow to the time manifestation. A diligent man doesn’t engage in the get-rich-quick scheme, which does not follow the principle of God.

In the place of diligence, you command wealth and respect. You cannot be diligent in your work and remain poor because a diligent man isn’t a lazy man or a procrastinator. You can’t follow God’s principles and remain the same. Never! You gain power and wisdom to stand before Kings. We all need to be diligent in our professions.

Understand, therefore, that seeking the kingdom of God is all-encompassing. Faith is one of the essential things we need to seek God’s kingdom as much as unlock the doors of wealth. What is work without faith? (James 2:26). Many people work but don’t see results because they don’t believe they will excel. And even when they probably excel, they don’t appreciate it because they never had faith that they would attain such a feat. You need good faith in God to help you develop trust in yourself. Having confidence in yourself alone will not take you far. Don’t rely on your understanding, seek God’s help. A diligent man is a man who seeks God’s help and counsel in doing his thing.

Also, praying strategic prayers to unlock wealth is important. Giving is another strategic way. However, we must not give because we want to be rich. That is giving from the wrong place. Giving should be done genuinely and not with the mind of receiving in return.

In seeking wealth, ensure that you’re doing it the right way. If you allow God into your life,
He “…will give you what you did not request–both riches and honour—so that during all your days, no man in any kingdom will be your equal.” 1 Kings 3:13a. Besides, “Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.” Psalms 112:3.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge you as the provider and supplier of my needs. Truthfully, I have betrayed you by seeking my needs before your kingdom, Father. Please help me to retrace my steps back to you. Forgive me and show me your love again. As I seek wealth, please help me to use it for the proper purpose. Please help me not to depart from your path. Please help me to be diligent in my work henceforth. I refuse to entertain the spirits of laziness and procrastination anymore. Thank you for answered prayers. For I have prayed in Jesus’ name.

“So, beloved, since you are looking forward to these things, be diligent and make every effort to be found by Him [at His return] spotless and blameless, in peace [that is, inwardly calm with a sense of spiritual well-being and confidence, having lived a life of obedience to Him].” 2 Peter 3:14.

We use this opportunity to ask you to surrender your heart to Jesus. Depart from your sinful ways and embrace the love of Christ. May God be with you. Amen.
