“Neither give place to the devil.”

Ephesians 4:27

Have you noticed how some people, when given an opportunity, do not simply receive it but begin to stretch it? It is like giving someone a set of colours to draw with, only to discover later that the person has opened a dye factory with it. I once read an illustration describing how human nature can sometimes expand opportunity beyond its intended boundary. What was meant as kindness may slowly become entitlement if boundaries are not guarded.

The Christian walk is similar. Ephesians 4:27 gives a simple but powerful instruction: “Neither give place to the devil.” This does not mean believers should live in fear, but that they should live in spiritual wisdom. Small compromises can grow if they are not checked. When a door is left slightly open, what enters first may seem harmless, but it can gradually claim more space than was intended.

The enemy does not always begin with obvious destruction; sometimes the approach is subtle—a thought that is tolerated, a habit that is excused, or a value that is quietly weakened. Giving “an inch” in matters of conviction, obedience, or purity can slowly shift the heart away from God’s design.

Charge: Believer, guard the territory of your soul. Do not treat spiritual alertness as suspicion but as wisdom.

Refuse to trade eternal peace for temporary convenience. When you stand firm in Christ, you give no room to that which seeks to diminish your light.
