“Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.”

2 Kings 7:9

Do you remember the saying that while good news is still preparing to leave the gate, bad news has already crossed the village square and reached the marketplace? I once read this saying illustrated by a story of hunger and siege. The people of the city were starving, trapped by enemies, and waiting for death. But outside the city, God performed a miracle. The enemy fled in terror, leaving food, wealth, and provisions behind. Four leprous men discovered the abandoned camp and ate, drank, and were filled with wonder.

For a moment, they enjoyed the blessing in silence, but they couldn’t continue. They said to one another, “We are not doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we are holding our peace. If we wait until morning, punishment may find us. Come, let us go and tell the king’s household.” So they ran back with urgency, carrying the message of deliverance and hope.

The lepers understood something profound: good news is not meant to be hoarded. In the same way, salvation is not a private treasure. It is meant to be carried and spread with urgency because somewhere, someone is still bound by fear, sin, or hopelessness.

Charge: Dear believer, you carry the message of life. The world is surrounded by spiritual famine, waiting for bread that only Christ can give. If you have tasted that the Lord is good, do not remain silent. Someone’s deliverance may depend on your obedience today.

The light was not given to hide under shadows but to illuminate darkness. Hasten the good news. Speak of Jesus. Share hope. Let your life carry the message that salvation has come.
