“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Mark 8:38

Lately, the world has changed. Wars here and there, famine, pestilence, diseases, and even belief dynamics have changed. Some who used to profess Christ have backslidden, choosing the things of this world instead of Christ. Some have fallen and embraced the lies of the devil and his cohorts.

What does it mean to be ashamed of Jesus today? Is it silence when truth is under attack? Is it a compromise for social acceptance? Are you more concerned with God’s approval or the world’s acceptance? Do not forget as believers, we are called to unashamedly and unbashfully wear our identity as followers of Christ and joint-heirs with Him.

Our Scripture for today reminds us that allegiance to Jesus is not meant to be hidden. Being a disciple means publicly identifying with Christ, not just being privately devoted. Jesus links shame in this life with eternal consequences. He said, “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh…” Do not be ashamed to identify with Him because He is returning with His reward.

Charge: Speak the truth in love, stand firm in faith, and reflect Christ boldly in speech and lifestyle.
