“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”
John 14:1
One of the strengths of children is their fearlessness. They easily trust their parents and anyone who shows them care. Their innocence keeps doubt far from their hearts, and their faith in their caregivers remains unwavering.
However, as they grow and learn the ways of this world, fear begins to creep in. When those they trust fail them, their hope starts to waver, and their faith in others begins to quiver. This mirrors our earthly experience; even those we love most can betray us, and even our families can fail us, but God never fails.
The good news is that we are children of God, and because He is faithful, we are reassured by today’s Scripture not to entertain fear. Fear is a thief that steals joy and love. Regardless of what we face, we must remember we are not alone. Our Heavenly Father is always present to comfort us—if we let Him.
Charge: You have not been given the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Never allow the destructive power of fear to take root in your beautiful heart.
