“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?“

1 Corinthians 14:15-16

In today’s message, we will be examining the act of worshipping and praying with the Spirit and understanding. As a believer, when you sing or pray, do you do that with understanding? As much as it is a great thing to pray and sing in tongues, it is also crucial to do so in understanding, especially when you’re around people, so that others won’t feel lost. Also, you won’t be edifying yourself alone but also the  congregation.

As believers, it is good to provide interpretations to the tongues we speak because not everyone understands the language. So, when going for a ministration, you need to allow the people understand why they should pray or sing by speaking a language they understand or by providing interpretations to the tongue you speak.

When we do this, people can worship and pray with an open heart because they understand what you’re saying to them, and more importantly, it brings intimacy with our Father.
