“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
1 Timothy 4:14
The scripture for today emphasizes the importance of using the spiritual gifts that God has given us for the benefit of the church and the advancement of his kingdom.
Firstly, we are reminded that our gifts are not meant to be kept under wraps or hidden away. Rather, they are to be used and exercised for the good of others and the glory of God. Just like a muscle that becomes weak and atrophied if it is not used, our spiritual gifts will become ineffective if we fail to use them.
Secondly, we are all called to serve in some capacity in the church. We all have spiritual gifts that can be used to edify and build up the body of Christ. Whether it is teaching, leading worship, serving, or showing hospitality, each of us has a vital role to play in the church.
In conclusion, let us not neglect the gifts that God has given us, but instead use them to serve one another and bring glory to His name. May the Lord empower us to effectively use our spiritual gifts for His glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
