“For whom the LORD loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.”

Hebrews 12:6

Does it seem harsh if after disobeying, God takes away a certain thing from you in a bid to let you feel the consequence of your disobedience?

Especially if you have watched people do worse, called themselves Christians, and managed to get away with it. Does it make you feel like God hasn’t forgiven you? Or that God is angry at you?

Dear Christian, God does not chasten you because He is angry with you. He does it because He loves you and considers you a son. A son is one who has come to a place in God where God holds him responsible for certain things.

This act is something that should be coveted, held dearly and taken seriously by all Christians because it produces a fruit that translates to speedy growth in a believer’s life.

Prayer

Lord, search my heart and bring me to a place where I can receive your chastening with joy and love. Amen.
