“Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.”
John 2:2
A wedding day is a day of joy, when a man and a woman become husband and wife. It is a beautiful day when dreams of being with the person they’ve been waiting for finally come true.
On this day, many guests are present to witness the fulfillment of this lifelong commitment. And there are usually various foods and drinks, depending on the financial status of the couple, but sometimes drinks or food run out before the other.
While some guests genuinely want to share in the couple’s joy, others just attend for the food and drinks, and may complain if they don’t get their fill. Regardless of a couple’s financial status, there is always one guest who must never be left out. This guest is our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior.
When the couple at Cana invited Jesus to their wedding, even when they ran out of wine, God proved Himself mighty. Jesus solved the problem and even provided the best wine. The master of the feast was astonished (John 9b-10: “the master of the feast called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”), but this is what inviting Jesus into your marital journey can guarantee you. As a Christian, it’s important to invite Jesus into your marriage, to be the Lord of that union.
Inviting Jesus to your wedding is good, but most importantly, invite Him to your marriage. In a world where godly and great marriages are breaking up, and the devil is finding his way in, it’s crucial to always invite Jesus.
With Jesus as the pillar of your marriage, you’re certain to last as long as God wills, fulfilling your marital purpose and being a great example and encouragement to others who are struggling to build a successful marriage.
With Jesus, the latter wine will always be sweeter than the former, not just in your marriage but in every aspect of your life.
