“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
Many things changed after Covid-19 happened, and one of them is waiting outside the bank until it’s your turn to be called in. If you do not get to the bank as early as the bank opens, you may be given number 101. As much as that sounds funny and unbelievable, that is the reality in this part of the world. I remember there was a particular day I had to go to a bank, and on getting there as early as 9 am, I was given number 85 or thereabout. I felt pissed off, but I needed to wait to get done my reason for going. Attending to customers could get slower and more annoying when a network glitch occurs. Notwithstanding, we have to wait.
This scenario is similar to how our spiritual waiting room looks and feels. So many times, you would have prayed, fasted and done everything you were told to do to get the desired result, but it can be very frustrating if everything stays the same after all is done.
What have you waited so long for, yet without receiving? Have you lost hope and faith in God? Some people have denied God today because they felt God left them stranded in the waiting room. Some people denounced their faith in God because they asked Him to heal their dying beloved, but loss followed instead.
Have you also been waiting upon God for the fruit of the womb? Perhaps, you may want to look at the women who were barren in the Bible. Their lives showed us that God is the only giver of children, and He does so when the right time clocks.
Have you ever wondered what happened to those children from Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth and a few others who experienced barrenness in the Bible? If you’ve carefully studied their lives, you will observe that every child that came out of that waiting period was a force to reckon with. In one of my moments with the Holy Spirit, He revealed that God took enough time to mould those children because they carry a destiny that cannot be corrupt. They carry mighty purposes. Their arrival time was also significant and must align with God’s purpose for them and those they were sent to.
Now, the wait wasn’t even about their mothers, but about them and the destiny they had to fulfil. We saw what Isaac, Samuel, John the Baptist, and even Joseph from Rachel eventually became. We saw how useful they were in the hands of the Lord.
Today, Beloved, I’m telling you that your wait is not just about you; it has a lot to do with many other destinies. If you rush out of that waiting period, you never know those destinies that may be affected. We can see today how the decision Sarah made when she was in her waiting room is affecting the body of Christ today. Just like Jesus was the promised Saviour, Isaac was the promised. But we can see what happened when Sarah asked her husband to meet her maidservant, who eventually gave birth to Ishmael, the ancestor of the Islamic religion. Today, we are facing the result of one woman’s decision to rush out of the waiting room.
Humanly speaking, anyone in Sarah’s shoes would have done the same. Some would have even left their matrimonial home for another. Some would have gone to seek children from the devil. But with God, all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
The waiting room is like a hungry man who has to queue to withdraw just a thousand naira from the ATM for his food. Then after withdrawing, he still gets to the restaurant and sees that their food has finished. He becomes frustrated and starts lamenting. Unknowing to him that God was sending a friend to give him a palatable meal for free, more than he would have bought. Now, he can enjoy a nicely made meal and still keep the money for another purpose.
Beloved, what are you waiting on the Lord for today? Do you know that if you’re waiting with the wrong attitude or motive, you may never receive it? For example, asking for something because you want to shame another person is one wrong way of asking.
As you wait on the Lord on that excellent spouse, great job, beautiful marriage, and many others, wait patiently and have faith that God will come through for you at the best time. You probably haven’t received because, according to God, the best time for His glorification in your life hasn’t come. He is still preparing everything for your launch. “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalm 27:14.
“Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.” Isaiah 30:18. Wait on the Lord, Beloved; I say, wait!
Prayer
Father, I thank you for another word of truth that you have sent today. I have failed to wait upon you, dear Lord. My faith and patience have waxed so cold that I am on the verge of giving up. Consider your child, oh Lord. Look upon me with your mercy. As you have answered those of the past, please do to me, Lord. I know You’re the God of the old-time faith; You are the unchanging God who changes man’s situation. Please, pave ways for me to rejoice and be rejoiced with. Help me to share my own testimony. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, strengthen my faith in you, Lord, and forever shall I be grateful to you. This I have asked in Jesus’ name. Amen.
