“These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.”

Psalm 104:27-28

There was a family whose mother cooked every evening at exactly the same time. No matter how busy the day was, the pot always went on the fire before sunset. The children noticed something interesting as they grew older: whenever they stayed close to the kitchen, helping or even just sitting around, they never worried about food. They knew that once the pot was ready, plates would be filled. But on days when they played too long outside or got distracted, food was still prepared, yet they came late and had to rush to eat before it finished.

The pot never failed. The timing never failed. What changed was where they were when the food was served. Psalm 104:27-28 says, “These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season… thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.” The provision was always there, but it was received by those who waited, watched, and stayed close.

God is not stingy, and He is not forgetful. When He opens His hand, there is no scarcity, only plenty. Our role is to remain dependent, attentive, and trusting, knowing that the same God who sets the season also fills the plate. Those who wait on Him are never sent away empty.

Charge: God’s generosity is not in question; our posture often is. He gives in due season; not too early to waste, not too late to harm, but right on time.
