“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.”
Isaiah 12:3
God is the fountain of living waters and every child of God should joyously draw from Him. But it is a matter of concern to note that most people are not thirsty. Are you thirsty?
Water is foundational to life. It must be gathered and consumed every day, sometimes at great trouble and expense. It is necessary for survival. Whenever we are thirsty, our body craves the satisfaction of water. This is shown in the Scripture when the Israelites asked Moses for water, and the Lord provided them with water from the rock.
As much as God supplies our physical needs, He is more interested in our spiritual growth because our flesh can never be satisfied. Our spirit can enjoy eternal satisfaction provided we surrender in obedience to God’s instruction in His word. We draw daily by feasting on God’s word through careful study, meditation, confession and prayer. As we continue in this act of obedience, God in turn releases His wisdom, strength, favour, blessings and everlasting joy into our lives.
Charge: Life can be filled with disappointments and setbacks, but if we allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us and help us in times of crisis, great joy will be ours.
