“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:”

Ephesians 4:26

Anger is a natural human emotion, and even the Bible acknowledges its place in our lives. There is no shortage of circumstances where anger can find expression in us, yet we are reminded by God’s Word that while anger itself isn’t sinful, how we respond to it determines whether we honor God or give space to the enemy.

Jesus Himself was a good example to us in this regard. He became angry when he saw hypocrisy and the desecration of His father’s house (John 2:15), but His anger was righteous and controlled. In this way, we can feel anger without being ruled by it.

Likewise, Apostle Paul’s warning to us in today’s Scripture is to help us see how unresolved anger can harden the heart and open the door to bitterness, broken relationships, and spiritual compromise. When we sleep with anger, we often wakes up with resentment. And resentment, when nourished, becomes sin.

Is there someone you need to forgive, or a burden you need to lay before God? Anger, when surrendered to the Holy Spirit, can be transformed into a force for justice, healing, and reconciliation.

Charge: Ask God for the grace to feel, process, and release anger in a way that glorifies Him.

Further Study: Matthew 5:23-24; James 1:19-20.

Happy weekend.
