“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble… Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
James 4:6,10
In a world that applauds self-promotion and glorifies pride, God exalts a different path: humility. The Proud may rise quickly, but they lack the foundation that sustains true greatness. Scripture makes it clear: pride provokes divine resistance, but humility invites divine grace, and being humble isn’t a sign of weakness; rather, it’s a sign of strength under control.
Grace is more than unmerited favour; it is divine help, strength, and empowerment. And it flows in abundance to the humble, those who acknowledge their need for God, surrender their will, and choose obedience over arrogance. Jesus, the Son of God, humbled Himself even unto death (Philippians 2:8), and was exalted above all.
Are you waiting to be lifted? Don’t chase the stage, chase the secret place. God sees in secret, and He rewards openly. When you walk in humility, you align yourself with God’s process and timing. You don’t need to push your way to the top, God lifts those who bow before Him. Choose humility daily, in speech, in service, and in heart posture.
Charge: If you want to go higher with God, go lower in humility. He lifts the lowly.
