“He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.”
Psalm 24:4
What every child of God desires and seeks is to gain unrestricted access to God’s presence. But are you pure in your act and thought? Given this, we must understand that God is holy, and in Him, there is no unrighteousness. We cannot stand before the righteous God living in iniquity or presumptuous sins.
Remember, the story of Joshua’s filthy garment and how it was immediately removed and replaced with a robe of righteousness? We can always come into the Lord’s presence just as we are, seeking His mercy and forgiveness, but we must not intentionally live in sin having the mindset that God will always forgive us because He is merciful. Yes, His mercy endures forever, but can we continue in sin and say grace should abound? God forbids it, right?
We cannot fully enjoy all of God if we live a deceitful, hypocritical, unrepentant, and unholy life. Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do right for the right reasons, who do not worship idols, and who never tell lies, will gain unrestricted access to the presence of God always.
Charge: Choose to walk in holiness and right standing with God.
