“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you.”
1 Thessalonians 4:11
Today’s verse reminds us of the importance of living a simple, humble lifestyle. In a world that often values noise, fame, attention, and busyness, God’s Word encourages us to strive for quietness, contentment, and diligence.
As we go about our daily lives, let’s ask ourselves these questions to keep our motives in check: “Am I seeking to draw attention to myself, or am I content with living a quiet life? Am I minding my business, or am I getting entangled in others’ affairs? Am I working hard with my hands, or am I relying on others to do the work for me?”
Strive to live a life that honours God; a life marked by humility, simplicity, and diligence, and you will be amazed at how God will uplift you. Meanwhile don’t get the wrong idea. Living quietly doesn’t mean living a life of poverty. The first paragraph captures what today’s message is about. May God reward you as you live a purposeful and fulfilled life.
