“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5
God is light, and as His children, we are called to shine as light wherever we are. There is no trace of darkness in Him, so our lives must reflect His purity and truth. The Bible urges us: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
To truly shine, we must study and emulate the life of Jesus daily. Many, especially youths, claim to be Christians yet struggle to let go of their old ways, trying to balance light with darkness. This cannot work. The Bible reminds us that new wine cannot be poured into old wineskins – both will be ruined. Similarly, we cannot combine a life in Christ with worldly habits.
Choose where you belong. Be either hot or cold; a man who has a lukewarm faith cannot please God. Let go of the ‘old man’ and allow God’s light to fully reflect in you.
Charge: Remember, you are light. Reject darkness and embrace the life of Christ, shining brightly for all to see.
