“And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.”

2 Chronicles 29:2

God’s definition of what is right is something no one can achieve without His grace, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the help of the Holy Spirit. We often falter because, although we know this truth, we don’t fully understand it.

The way to do what is right in God’s eyes is not merely to “try,” but to “submit and obey.” The Christian life is impossible without Jesus. To live that life, you must surrender to Him. The secret to a life that follows God isn’t found in determination alone, because the flesh will inevitably fail you. Instead, the secret lies in this:

First, make a decision to follow God. Then, back your decision with a genuine hunger to know how to achieve what you’re seeking. You do this by meditating on Scripture to understand God’s will. But don’t stop there. Seek the Holy Spirit’s help in applying these truths to your life, surrender to the Lord’s leading, and obey what He works in you.

Charge: You cannot do it on your own.
