“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38
Have you ever felt like the lone believer in your community, workplace, or school? Similar to how Elijah thought he was the only true prophet left in Israel? If you’ve ever wrestled with such thoughts, it’s time to kneel in prayer and ask the Lord of the harvest to send forth more workers into His fields.
How should we respond to this abundant harvest? Rather than feeling discouraged, let us find encouragement in the Lord. Let’s seek His provision for committed believers – individuals passionate about expanding and establishing God’s kingdom on earth.
And how does God respond to our plea for more labourers? He reminds us that there are still faithful ones among us, just as He did with Elijah: ‘Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.’ (1 Kings 19:18) May the Lord send forth laborers into His harvest in Jesus’ name. Amen.
