The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”

Matthew 19:20-21

It is more blessed to give than to receive. “Giving” is a consistent lifestyle of God and a trait in every child of God. Every believer is expected to be a giver and not emulate the Pharisees and Sadducees who show off whenever they give out to the poor or give to people they know will give back to them.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6: 38

Remember, Cornelius received God’s gift of salvation with his family because he was a giver. Dorcas was a giver who gave to people, especially the widows, and God rewarded her by restoring life to her. May the Lord teach us to reach out to the needy through giving in Jesus’ name. Amen

Thought of the day: Giving to the poor here on earth saves up as treasures in heaven.

Keep giving.
