“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:9-10

Our bible passage for today talks about the means to salvation. For one to be saved, two major criteria must be meant: confessions must be made through the mouth, and believing through the heart.

There’s an adage in Yoruba that says, “We confess whatever we want with our mouth.” There’s power in the confession we make, the bible confirmed this in proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (NIV)

It’s amazing that first and most important criteria is to believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sins and God raised Him from the dead. If there was no resurrection there  wouldn’t be gospel. The resurrection of Jesus gave us power and authority over death, helli, and kingdom of darkness. As believers, we should believe in the finished work of Christ and shouldn’t be seen panicking around over irrelevant issues.

The second criteria is to be saved is by confession. This means that God is so particular about the words of our mouth. Therefore, as believers, we should learn to make positive confessions and be careful of how we use our tongue.

God is very intentional, the first thing comes first. Believe in your heart, and then confess with your mouth. If you don’t first believe, anything you confess is just from the tongue not the heart. So, you must believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and then, confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

If you desire change today, genuinely make this confessions as you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.

“Lord Jesus, I confess my sins before you this morning (mention your sins). I know only You can save me. I believe in your birth, death and resurrection. I confess You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Come into my heart and perfect your work of salvation therein. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hurray! There’s a celebration in heaven right now over your soul. For every soul that genuinely repents, heaven rejoices. I pray your salvation shall be permanent. Amen.
