Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans13:10

Dear Christian,

Did you know that if we acted from a foundation of love and covered all our intentions with love, everything we did would benefit others and fulfill the requirements of the law? What is that law? The two commandments given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ: to love our God, and love our neighbors as ourselves.

The commandment not to kill exists because of a lack of love for our brothers and sisters. Love makes it nearly impossible to harm someone you care about, no matter their actions or what you’ve heard about them.

It is love within us that prevents us from dressing indecently to avoid causing a brother to stumble. Love stops us from committing acts of selfishness like rape. Love prevents us from coveting another’s spouse due to discontentment. A nation flourishes and prospers when love resides in the hearts of its leaders and citizens.

Love truly fulfills the law. It wields incredible power when used rightly. As children of God, we possess the capacity to love, and we should never let it grow stagnant. This is a call to love, dear child of God. Love as Jesus would.

Prayer

Father, help me continually exercise my God-given ability to love. Guide me, Lord, to see through the eyes of love at all times.
