Pride is singularly one of the worst things that can beset a man. It makes a man feel high, mighty, and privileged above all others, and in that same breath destroys the very fabric of his soul and even the things he has accumulated.
Beware of pride, dear Christian. It is said that the road to destruction is normally paved with gold so that men are deceived by the glittery surface that leads only to doom. That is exactly what pride is. It is a road filled with the accolades of men that puffs up, it is one filled with an exaltation that shows you how to look down on others. It can also be very subtle, penetrating the heart with the slyness that insists that one cannot be wrong. Beware, dear Christian.
Choose instead the way of humility. Choose the narrative where you humble yourself and allow God do the lifting. Choose the option where you are seemingly the “fool” as long as you remain sensitive to God’s ways. That is the true way of honor.
Prayer
Dear Lord, teach me the path of humility and quicken my heart to know the ways in which I have been proud. Forgive me for hurting you and anyone through the act of pride. I choose to follow you in this path of humility even if it means being called foolish.
