“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.”
Proverbs 1:10
Are you frustrated at the fact that the ones who practice evil seem to continually excel? Are you at a place where you’re wondering why it seems as if the evil ones always get away with it? Are you tempted to “borrow” from their “wisdom”?
Is there a part of you that wonders what it would be like to just dip your legs in the waters of the things they do, even for just a little while?
Here’s what the bible says to that, dear Christian: “Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the wicked; For there will be no prospect for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out.” Prov. 24.19-20
Never let the enticement of the wicked ever get to you. Never let their sweet talk make you attempt what they’re offering, no matter how little a portion. The Bible says the lamp of the wicked will be put out, so we already know the end of the wicked man. We cannot allow this to also be our end because their ways seem enticing in the moment.
The way of sin is very nicely packaged, but the stench at its unfolding tends to attach itself to you long after the deed is done. It is a risk not worth taking. It is a pit disguised as a flowery path. As enticing as it is, watch and pray always, so you are constantly empowered with the grace to consent not.
Prayer
Father, help my heart to not be beguiled by the things this world offers on a platter. Help my heart to realise that the true treasure can only be found in You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
