“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

Mark 11:26

Imagine not being able to access God because you hold on to the hurt someone caused you, refusing to let it go. Imagine missing out on God’s mercy because you feel it’s foolish to forgive someone who has wronged you.

Notwithstanding, holding a grudge only hurts you in the end. You’re the one who misses out on God’s blessings, and you’re the one who suffers from heartache, anxiety, and the inability to trust others.

I’ve learned that God is wise, and if He asks us to do something, it’s for our own good. Even if it may seem like forgiving someone makes you a fool in the eyes of others, you know what you’re getting in exchange.

Your access to God is too important to give up for unforgiveness. So, choose to let go of the hurt, and forgive those who have wronged you. It may not be easy, but it will lead you to a happier and more fulfilling life, with a closer relationship with God.

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14

Prayer

  1. Lord, help my heart. It’s not always easy to let go of the things that break my heart, but please help me to fix my eyes on you instead.
  2. Help me to love genuinely again, no matter what anyone has done to me.
