“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
The passage above is vital for any believer who desires to be like Christ. However, it is important to know that it is a continuous process that happens step by step, from glory to glory. So, to ensure our steps are ordered towards becoming like Jesus, there’s one thing we must always do. And that is to continue beholding Him, for it is as we behold Him that we are changed into His image. To behold Him means to dwell continually in His presence. It means learning the beats of His heart and responding accordingly. It means to understand His word and obey Him unconditionally. It means honouring Him with everything we are and serving Him unashamedly.
We must remember that obedience does not end with staying in the secret place, although that’s a huge part of it. It also requires that we act on the instructions we receive since it is after one instruction that we can move to the next stage in God’s curriculum.
It is the Spirit of the Lord that does the changing, such that we begin to realise that desires that used to be so important are no longer present. Our part is to come, submit, and obey continually.
- Father, we ask for the strength to keep coming into your secret place so that our lives will have the fragrance of fellowship with you.
- Precious Holy Spirit, we ask that you draw us continually and break down every wall of resistance that prevents us from coming closer.
- Lord, we ask for the grace to do all you have said with no exceptions in the name of Jesus. Amen.
