IDENTIFYING YOUR ESCAPE ROUTE

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

The Lord has been speaking to us on His escape route for the past two days. This topic is so important because many people have gone into depression, some have contemplated suicide, and some have lost hope, all because they don’t understand God’s way of saving them from the situation that they are going through.

When you understand God’s escape route for your life, you will not feel abandoned or forsaken. Instead, you would rather be courageous to wait for Him to perfect all He is doing on your behalf.

Now you must also understand that for every situation you face, the way of escape can appear in different forms. There’s a saying that it is the darkest before dawn. This means that when you feel things have worsened, they are about to improve. It requires sensitivity to realise that what you’re going through is a way of escaping that situation. God is so dynamic that He uses the foolish things of this world to create beautiful things.

Let’s look at the story of Joseph; when his brothers wanted to kill him, God made them sell him out. Then, when God wanted to lift him higher, he saved him from the trap of his master’s wife, and he was sent to the prison to preserve his life, knowing that from there, he would reach that height He had planned for him. (Genesis 37-42). I can imagine that Joseph gave up when he was thrown into prison and didn’t keep up with his mission of helping people by interpreting dreams and all. So there probably won’t be any beautiful story to read about him.

Beloved, do you know that your waiting period may be God’s way of saving you from evil circumstances the devil has laid ahead of you? For you, it might be a delay; but to God, it is a strategy to lift you higher. Have you ever experienced being unnecessarily delayed by someone when you’re supposed to be at an important place? Haven’t you heard of people who escaped death because they missed a bus or flight? At the point of missing the bus, they would have felt unserious and disappointed, but after hearing the news that the same bus was engaged in an accident, they go back to glorify God.

Your way of escape from that frustrating job may be that God is preparing the heart of men to work together for your promotion. It might seem that everyone is annoying you, not knowing that God is building in you a capacity for a new leadership position He has planned for you. If you give up, you might miss God’s plan for you.

Yours may be that relationship you believed would end in marriage, but the person you wished to marry disappointed you. To you, that may be the end of going into any other relationship; but God, on the other side, is preparing your spouse for you. God knows that if you don’t face that heartbreak, you may never leave that relationship and then miss His plans for you.

There is no doubt that our own mistakes might have caused those trying times we are going through; however, God is willing to rescue us if we are eager to come closer. The Bible says His arms are not too weak to save us, nor are his ears too deaf to hear us — Isaiah 59:1.

So, rather than feeling God won’t answer you or that situation is the end for you, why not call on God today? Let me bring to your consciousness that God’s ultimate escape route for humanity and that challenge you’re facing is our Lord Jesus Christ. He was sent to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life if we believe in him.

Finally, Beloved, draw closer to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:15-16.

Prayer
Dear Father, I’ve received your word for me today. Please, let it be deeply rooted in my heart so I may remember it each time I’m in a challenging situation. Please help me to identify the escape route in every circumstance I find myself. Help me to love you unconditionally and spread your love amongst others. Help me, oh Lord, to never go back into my old ways. This day, help me to draw closer to you and do your will in every situation. Thank you, righteous Father. This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
