“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”
Romans 10:1
What is your desire for the unsaved souls around you? What is your passion for those living a carefree life? Do you see yourself as holier than them? Do you wish to see them die in their sins and unfaithfulness? Do you mock them and laugh at their outlook? Yet, have you ever searched deep into their souls and found a weeping lonely child who needs to be saved from eternal perdition?
Paul once had a desire. He desired to see the unsaved people in his time saved. Those people might have done so many frivolous things. Those people have criticised Paul several times. Yet, Paul desired to see them saved. 2 Cor. 11:24-25a, “Five times I was given the 39 lashes by the Jews; three times I was whipped by the Romans; and once I was stoned…”
Yet this man never stopped praying for those who have persecuted him. In Romans 9:1-3, this same Paul who was persecuted said, “I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me [enlightened and prompted] by the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For [if it were possible] I would wish that I myself were accursed, [separated, banished] from Christ for the sake [of the salvation] of my brothers, my natural kinsmen.”
He emphasised that he was telling the truth and wasn’t lying because it could seem so unbelievable that someone who had gone through what Paul went through would still be yearning for the salvation of their souls. As Christians, irrespective of whatever anyone has done to us, irrespective of whatever sin anyone might have committed, our greatest desire must be to see them become saved. We must stand for Christ and peace always.
No sin on earth is so great before the blood of Jesus that it cannot be forgiven, and there is no reprobate that God cannot save. So even if you feel someone is irredeemable, pray for that person, and don’t write them off. The Holy Spirit is still at work, and He is still changing lives.
Challenge: Pray for others. Intercede for them to be saved. Pray that the Holy Spirit will increase your burning desire to see the lost sheep found.
Pray against the spirit of criticising the lost souls. Pray that even you don’t become victim to the fall of the righteous—”Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls.” 1 Cor. 10:12.
Pray for the lost souls, Beloved. Pray, and the Lord will hear you.
