“The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness.”
Zephaniah 1:14-15
The prophet’s words in Zephaniah pierce through every illusion of delay and complacency: the Day of the Lord is not distant—it is near, urgent, and advancing with divine certainty. This is not merely a warning; it is a revelation of a moment when God’s justice will confront every life without exception
In a world that often trivialises sin and postpones accountability, Scripture brings us back to reality: there is a day appointed when every man will answer to God.
Yet this coming day is not meant to drive the believer into fear, but into sobriety and alignment. God’s warnings are invitations wrapped in urgency. They call us to examine our ways, to turn from hidden compromise, and to walk in righteousness while there is still time.
Charge: The awareness of that coming day should awaken a deeper hunger for holiness, a life that is not merely outwardly correct, but inwardly surrendered and true.
