“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

Hebrews 2:14-15

Bondage often hides in plain sight—not always in visible chains, but in silent fears. Some live driven by unspoken dread: fear of death, loss, and the unknown. It influences their choices, limits faith, and confines them behind invisible walls. Yet Hebrews 2:14-15 shows Jesus entered our human condition fully—taking on flesh to break the fear that held humanity captive.

Imagine a tyrant who ruled over a people for generations, instilling fear so deeply that even when his power began to weaken, the people still lived as though they were bound. Then one day, a deliverer arises—not from afar, but from among them. He confronts the tyrant directly, defeats him publicly, and strips him of his authority. The chains are broken, yet some still hesitate, unsure if they are truly free.

Through His death, Christ destroyed the one who had the power of death, the devil, and shattered the very foundation of fear that held people in lifelong bondage. The victory was decisive. That is why to live in this freedom, you must embrace the truth of what has been done. You are no longer a prisoner of fear and subjected to the oppressive grip of death’s intimidation.

Charge: The Bondage Breaker has already done the work. Now, the call is to step out of what once held you and walk in the liberty that has been secured.

Further Study: Luke 4:18; John 8:36; 1 Corinthians 15:26,55; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:1; Colossians 1:12-13; 1 John 3:8; Revelation 12:11.

For when Christ broke the power of death, He did not just win a victory for Himself—He secured your release. And whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

Happy Easter Monday
