“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”
1 Thessalonians 4:14
Beloved, you should know the truth about those who have died, so that you will not be sad, as those who do not have hope. Our faith is anchored in Jesus’ victory over death, and our hope in resurrection empowers us to live with purpose. We have hope not just for ourselves but for loved ones who have passed away.
Belief transforms grief into hope, assuring that death is not the end. Our belief is active; that is, it shapes how Christians live daily, mourn and hope with eyes fixed on eternity. Even when circumstances seem uncertain, we have confidence in God’s promises. We live with the expectation of Christ’s return and encourage others with the hope of eternal life.
Our trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus gives us strength, comfort, and hope in the face of death. This trust points forward to eternal life with Christ; transforming mourning into hope and despair into expectation.
Charge: Belief in Christ’s death and resurrection is the cornerstone of Christian faith. True belief is not passive: it is lived out daily in hope, trust, and perseverance.
