“When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”

John 11:4

When Jesus learned that Lazarus was sick, everyone expected Him to hurry to help. Instead, He stayed two more days, which felt like abandonment to Martha and Mary. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. Despite the mourners’ grief and the sisters’ dwindling faith, Jesus saw the situation as an opportunity for God’s glory.

He reminded them, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40), and then He called, “Lazarus, come forth!” Lazarus emerged alive and free. Sometimes, God allows situations to reach their “fourth day” not because He is late, but to reveal His glory in ways that human efforts cannot. What seemed like “too late” was actually the perfect moment for His glory to be seen.

Trust that your story, despite current confusion, will unfold for His glory. Jesus never wastes pain; every setback is an opportunity for His power. So, don’t lose hope in the waiting season; when Jesus arrives, even the dead things respond to His Word.

Charge: Your story may not make sense now, but if you keep trusting Him, it will end in glory. Every sickness, setback, or silence you face is not unto death, but unto His glory.
