“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.”
John 17:15
In His final prayer before the cross, Jesus revealed something profound about God’s protection. He did not ask the Father to remove His followers from the world — a world full of sin, temptation, and trouble — but rather to keep them from evil while they remain in it.
This shows that God’s plan is not to isolate us from the challenges of life but to insulate us with His divine protection and grace. As believers, we are not promised a trouble-free life, but we are assured of a trouble-proof presence — the presence of God that shields us from harm.
Dear believer, you are never alone. The prayer of Jesus still speaks for you today. Though the world may grow darker and dangers may increase, God’s covering remains sure. The One who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. You are shielded by His power, surrounded by His angels, and secured in His love.
Charge: Are you living in fear of the troubles around you, or are you resting in the assurance of God’s protection? Let the latter always be your reality, regardless of your circumstances.
