“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”
Revelation 2:5
Time has a way of testing and revealing our devotion. It is very possible to burn brightly and, over time, begin to dim if we’re not careful. The church in Ephesus started strong, yet somewhere along the line, it drifted. Jesus didn’t rebuke them for their works but for losing the passion that once fueled those works.
For us today, it’s easy to get caught up in the routine of doing good things for God and forget the God we’re doing them for. We can say we are busy in ministry, in career, and in life, and yet quietly begin to draw away from our first Love.
So, it’s time to pause for a moment and answer these questions: Are you still standing where you began? Do you still love Him as deeply as you once did? He longs for the intimacy that once defined your walk with Him.
Charge: Today’s call is simple: Remember. Repent. Return.
