“[3]I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4] And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him…”

2 Kings 20:3-4

It’s amazing how God not only listens to our voices, but also keenly knows the communication of our tears. This is only possible with God. The psalmist, having understood this revelation, prayed, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight. Oh Lord!” God looks beyond the surface, and this is the reason He remains the only one who’s ever detailed enough in comprehending humans’ physique, heart, and psychology.

When words fail us in times of distress, our hearts are made to communicate the agony of our souls through tears. It has more to do beyond emotions; it’s simply us saying, “God, this is how sincere I am about the petition of my heart.” This isn’t emotional blackmail against God either.

Tears communicate the depth of affection in some cases as it was with Jesus by the graveyard of Lazarus, His friend. John 11:35 “Jesus Wept.” Who’d have imagined the Lord and Saviour of the earth weeping?

Charge: Tears aren’t a sign of weakness, it is a revealer of someone who genuinely is insufficient in self.
